Project Overview
In 2007, Sports Surfaces UK supplied and installed a 612sqm Pulastic sports floor at Garforth Academy, a high-quality multiuse surface known for durability and performance.
Recently, Garforth’s sports hall underwent a significant refurbishment, and the floor needed to be updated to match the modernised facility.
Rather than a full replacement, SSUK was able to offer a cost-effective and sustainable solution with a SSUK Pulastic Overlay.
Project Objectives
- Renew Floor Appearance and Performance: Bring the sports hall floor back to its original condition, ensuring high performance and aesthetics.
- Sustainability and Cost Efficiency: Utilise the existing floor to reduce costs, environmental impact, and landfill waste.

Our Approach
The SSUK Pulastic Overlay was chosen as the ideal solution, allowing us to refurbish the floor rather than replace it entirely.
By installing a new floor over the top of the existing base, we were able to provide a quick, cost effective and more sustainable approach to improving the performance of the existing sports floor.
Results
The overlay gave Garforth’s sports hall floor a brand-new appearance and superior functionality while minimising costs and environmental impact. The Pulastic overlay reduced landfill waste by reusing the existing surface, cut downtime significantly, and was achieved at approximately half the cost of a full replacement.
