A recent project at Our Lady’s & St Chad’s Catholic Academy in Wolverhampton is a great example of how the right system can completely transform a sports hall.

The academy’s existing Granwood floor had served its time but was no longer providing the comfort and versatility required for modern sporting activities. The school wanted a surface that could handle a wide range of sports and training sessions.

Initially, the plan was to install a Pulastic 110 system—a proven choice for multi-purpose halls. However, during discussions, the academy highlighted that they wanted their students to be able to skate safely on the new floor. With this in mind, our team recommended a switch to the Pulastic 65XLS overlay system. This flooring offers all the benefits of Pulastic—comfort, safety, and excellent resistance to mechanical loads—while also being better suited to withstand the unique demands of skating.

Covering an area of 544sqm (32m x 17m), the new surface was finished in Dusty Grey (506 222W), giving the hall a sleek, modern look that perfectly complements its versatility.

The result is a bright, functional, and future-proof facility that meets the academy’s sporting and recreational needs. From PE lessons and after-school clubs to skating sessions, the hall can now cater to a wide variety of activities while keeping users safe and supported.

Another successful installation, and another school with a sports hall ready for the next generation of athletes, skaters, and all-round active learners.
